United We Gift

On November 29th, United Way of Northeast Louisiana launched “United We Gift,” a community gift card drive benefitting local senior citizens and school staff.

From November 29th through December 10th, community members are asked to donate gift cards in increments of $10. Any type of gift card will be accepted. Donated gift cards may be delivered Monday, November 29th through Friday, December 10th during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) to the following locations:

UNITED WAY OF NORTHEAST LOUISIANA

1201 HUDSON LANE | MONROE

939 NORTH TRENTON STREET | RUSTON

Donated gift cards will benefit senior citizens who receive congregate meals from Ouachita Council on Aging, Lincoln Council on Aging, and Union Council on Aging. Teachers and support staff at United Way’s READ.LEARN.SUCCEED. partner schools in Ouachita, Lincoln, and Union Parishes will also receive these generously donated gift cards. All recipients will receive $10 gift cards and handwritten Christmas cards to show appreciation from the community.

“By utilizing United Way’s long-standing relationships with the Councils on Aging and our READ.LEARN.SUCCEED. partner schools, we want to give our community the opportunity to show appreciation to two groups of people who have given so much to us,” said Janet Durden, President of United Way of Northeast Louisiana.

Kim Lowery, Director of Community Impact and Organizational Strategy, said “United We Gift creates a wonderful volunteer opportunity to help meet the needs of our senior citizens and school staff during the holidays. At United Way, we fight for the education, health, and financial stability of every person in Northeast Louisiana, and United We Gift is just one way our community can get involved.”

Gift cards and accompanying Christmas cards will be distributed to the senior centers and schools between December 13th - December 16th.
