Embrace Louisiana

What is the Embrace Louisiana Project?

On Sunday, August 29th, 2021 – the day of Hurricane Ida's impact – United Way of Northeast Louisiana launched “Embrace Louisiana,” a disaster relief project encompassing a goods donation drive, volunteer opportunities, and a monetary fund. All Embrace Louisiana goods and funds received were immediately used to meet the basic needs of the hundreds of Hurricane Ida evacuees sheltering in Northeast Louisiana. The unused goods and funds were donated to United Way of South LA (Terrebonne and surrounding parishes) and St. John United Way (St. John the Baptist Parish), the home parishes of the majority of the Hurricane Ida evacuees in our community.
